JAIDEEP MEHROTRA These paintings are a social commentary, juxtaposed against a city skyline, offering a piquant look of life in the metropolises. The variegated people living in their miniature worlds of concrete structures become veils in their cerebral context. In the confines of these small spaces, we walk that tightrope to maintain the fine balance between beliefs, status or intellectual hegemony. Along with mushrooming cities, the internet is growing at a mammoth rate, as if overcasting our skies with its metaphorical cloud. Growing up, we always had a lot of time to think and play but with diminishing open spaces in today’s world, children are forced to play their games online. Although we may not be able to change its face, we positively add to this transmutation and these mega cities are where we gravitate towards, to achieve our dreams, aspirations and goals. Whether shrinking or burgeoning, these maximum cities are the true test of survival of the future.
